Accomplishments
Our most recent major accomplishment
(with many thanks to former Congressman Jeb Bradley) is the foot bridge
that allows hikers to park in over-flow lots along N.H. Route 16 and
reach the Pinkham Notch “Joe Dodge” AMC lodge and trailheads without
walking (or parking) on the highway.
Other
Major Accomplishments include:
-
Thanks to an appeal to
Senator John Sununu, federal funds were allocated for new radios and
a telephone link between Hermit Lake Shelter and Pinkham Notch
providing continued reliable avalanche forecasting and rescue
communication!
-
Thanks to another
appeal, this time to Senator Judd Gregg, funding was secured to
drill a well that provides year round potable water at Hermit Lake.
-
Thanks to a $5000 gift
from the Nelson Gildersleeve Memorial Fund, Tuckerman First Aid
caches were replenished with essential supplies and equipment.
-
Thanks to our
volunteers a maintenance program for the Sherburne and Gulf of the
Slides Ski Trails has been implemented.
