Latest News
Congratulations to Friends of Tuckerman Ravine Co-Chairs, Jeanie
Eastman Ryan and Bill Downey on their First Annual Seacoast
Membership Drive that was held Saturday, November 8th. They did
a great job of spreading the word which resulted in over 100
attendees. Portsmouth Kayak Adventure, one of our sponsors of
the Tuckerman Inferno Pentathlon, hosted the event at their
headquarters in Portsmouth. The evening started at 5:30PM with
plenty of pizza and beer supplied by our sponsors "Flatbread"
and "Smutty Nose Brewery." A great film was shown thanks to the
excellent work of Bob Bernhardt of Bernhardt Video
Productions, door prizes were given away, and by the end of the
evening we had signed up 45 new Charter Members to the Friends
of Tuckerman Ravine Organization.

Thank you to Jeanie and Bill as well as our sponsors, and a
hearty welcome to our new "friends and charter members" of FOTR.
News Updates
Bob Berhardt of
Bernhardt Productions is our newest Lifetime Member and has
become the head of our video productions effort. He and I are
currently working on editing footage in the can from the past
and developing a DVD presentation we can use at the Seacoast
Party, November 8th and at our booth at the Boston Ski Show,
November 20 -23.
In 2009 we will be gathering more footage and interviews with
VIPs to be included in a professional promotional production. It
has been one of my dreams and goals to promote our mission and
educate new and old users of the safest way to enjoy the
backcountry experience of the Whites, particularly the ravines
and gullies of Mount Washington.
Anyone out there who has footage in the can they think would be
useful, please contact us by calling

Fall is here and
winter is just around the corner! The planning for next years
Pentathlons are in the final stages with our new Wildcat
Wildfire event lagging behind a bit.
2009 Inferno Handbook and
2009 Wildcat Wildfire
Handbook are up and running on the web now.
A change in the Bike/Hike Transition Zone is noted in the
Handbook. This year bikers will ride right past Malay at Pinkham
to the Trail Head of the Blanchard Loop Ski Trail, follow that
to the Tuck Trail and up to the bowl.
We will have an advance email sign up again for your intent to
race, with the month of December to finalize things.
One change to this program will be a $35 non-refundable fee
which includes a one year membership supporting our mission.
You will have the month of January to get your registration fee
in. At the end of the month, any slots not filled will be open
for the free-for-all.
FOTR is searching for new
corporate sponsors for our expanding Pentathlon in 2009.
Any ideas are welcome Call 603/367-4417
INFERNO/WILDFIRE WEEKEND
April 17 - 19
Race
Day is Saturday, April 18th. Because we limit the entries to
the Inferno, we will be hosting another Pentathlon called the Wildcat
Wildfire Pentathlon. It will be the same format but easier and more fun
for the recreational athlete. The race will end up at Wildcat Mountain
across from Mount Washington and Tuckerman Ravine.
Keep
checking the web page for more details as they get finalized.

there and always be safe! Looks like winter has set in again!!
