Chris Thayer is the White Mountain Facilities Director for the Appalachian Mountain Club, and oversees its programs and operations in the region including relations with local communities and government agencies. In his twenty years with AMC, he's served in a variety of capacities related to backcountry resource management, search and rescue coordination, public information dissemination, and educational programming. He's lucky enough to call Pinkham Notch at the base of Tuckerman Ravine his office.
A year-round skier and hiker certified in Wilderness First Aid and as a Leave No Trace Master, Chris serves as president of the New Hampshire Outdoor Council (www.nhoutdoorcouncil.org), on the board of directors of the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce, and as Vice Chair of his town's planning board.
He lives in Sugar Hill, NH with his wife, 3 year old son, and 5 year old yellow lab.
