Through his love for skiing he founded the Professional SKi Patrol Association (PSPA). Through his dedication to community he created the MWV Habitat for Humanity (MWVHFH) and most recently, his love for Mount Washington and devotion to protecting the Ravine motivated him to create Friends of Tuckerman Ravine (FOTR). All three organizations are still going strong.

Al served 9 years on the Gibson Center for Senior Citizens in North Conway, Helped build a church in Scarboro, Maine, was the recipient of the Governors Volunteer Recognition Award in 1996 and the Bill Whitney Award in 2008.
